Civil engineering construction site in the UK

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about our services and capabilities.

What types of groundworks and civil engineering does Rospower deliver?
We deliver the full scope of external works and civil engineering for commercial and industrial developments. That includes bulk earthworks and site preparation, structural concrete (pad foundations, piled caps, ground-bearing and suspended slabs), foul and surface water drainage, roads, kerbing, and hardstanding, plus landscaping and final external finishes. We work across industrial and commercial construction, automotive and logistics facilities, self-storage and retail, renewable energy, and residential developments. See our full services page for details on each capability.
Do you specialise in warehouse and industrial estate groundworks?
Yes. We have a dedicated offering for warehouse and industrial estate groundworks, covering everything from initial site strip through to final kerb lines. This includes ground-bearing and piled slab solutions, estate road construction, below-ground drainage networks, and heavy-duty hardstanding for HGV yards and distribution centres. We regularly deliver complete external works packages for speculative multi-unit industrial estates and single-occupier warehouse developments.
Can you handle groundworks for food production facilities and cold storage warehouses?
Absolutely. Our food and beverage facility groundworks service covers the specialist requirements of food manufacturing, cold storage, and hygiene-regulated environments. That includes food-grade stainless steel drainage systems, power-floated slabs to FM2/FM3 flatness tolerances, insulated cold store foundations, and contamination-aware earthworks. We understand BRC/BRCGS compliance requirements and can work within phased programmes that keep existing production lines running.
What accreditations and certifications does Rospower hold?
We hold Constructionline Silver membership, CHAS accreditation, ISO 9001 certification** for quality management, and NERS (National Electricity Registration Scheme) approval* for utility connections. All our site operatives carry valid CSCS cards, and we maintain independently audited health, safety, and environmental management systems. These accreditations are verified annually and ensure we meet the procurement standards required by main contractors, developers, and public sector clients.
Can you install utility connections as part of the groundworks package?
Yes, and this is one of the key advantages of working with Rospower. As a NERS-accredited contractor*, we can deliver LV and HV electricity connections, substation foundations, and duct infrastructure as part of your groundworks contract. Bundling utility connections with the main external works package removes coordination risk between separate contractors and avoids the programme delays that often come with waiting for third-party utility providers.
What areas of the UK do you cover?
We are based in Buckinghamshire and operate across the UK. Our core operating area is the South East of England (Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Surrey, Hertfordshire, Essex, and Greater London), but we regularly deliver projects further afield, including the Midlands, South West, and beyond. Location is rarely a barrier; what matters is the right fit between our capabilities and the project requirements.
Can you work on live operational sites without disrupting the business?
Yes. A significant proportion of our work takes place on sites that remain operational during construction. We have delivered projects within live vehicle auction compounds for Copart, active self-storage facilities for Safestore, and running food production environments. Our site teams are experienced in phased programmes, segregated work zones, controlled access, and out-of-hours working to minimise disruption while maintaining strict health and safety standards.
Do you work as a subcontractor to main contractors and developers?
We do. We work as a specialist groundworks and civil engineering subcontractor to main contractors, as well as directly for developers, asset managers, and end-user clients. Whether you need a complete external works package under a subcontract or a direct appointment for a smaller scheme, our commercial team can structure the engagement to suit your procurement route.
What size and value of projects can Rospower take on?
We deliver projects ranging from targeted site upgrades and car park refurbishments through to multi-million-pound external works packages on large industrial estates and distribution centres. Our core team of experienced supervisors and engineers is supported by a flexible pool of CSCS-carded operatives, which means we can scale resource to match the programme without compromising on supervision or quality. Over 35 years of trading history and a strong balance sheet give clients confidence on longer-duration contracts.
How do you handle Section 278 highway works and adoptable roads?
We have extensive experience delivering works under Section 278 (highway works agreements), Section 38 (adoptable road construction), and Section 104 (adoptable drainage). This includes full highway construction to DMRB standards, kerbing, footpaths, street lighting ducting, and surface water drainage designed for adoption. We coordinate directly with local highway authorities on inspections and sign-off, which keeps the programme on track and avoids delays at the handover stage.
What is your approach to sustainable drainage (SuDS)?
Sustainable drainage is now a planning requirement on most commercial developments, and we design and construct a full range of SuDS solutions. This includes permeable paving, attenuation tanks and basins, swales, filter drains, and below-ground geocellular storage systems. We work with project engineers to ensure the drainage strategy meets both the planning conditions and the practical needs of the finished development, particularly on sites with constrained footprints or high water tables.
How does your project delivery process work?
We follow a structured four-stage process. It starts with an initial consultation and site assessment, where we review drawings, visit the site, and identify risks or buildability issues. Next comes detailed planning, programming, and method statement preparation. During the construction phase, our site team delivers to the agreed programme with regular progress reporting and quality checks. Finally, we carry out snagging, final inspections, and a clean handover with all as-built records and compliance documentation. You can get in touch at any stage to discuss your project.
How do I get a quote or discuss a potential project?
The quickest route is our Request a Proposal form, where you can outline the project details and we will respond with indicative costs and a suggested approach. Alternatively, contact us directly by phone or email for an informal conversation. We are happy to review tender documents, visit sites, and provide no-obligation advice on buildability, programming, and budget.
